HISTORY OF THE FIRM
William Kendrick started his Saginaw practice in 1874. Later, Hugo Braun - and thereafter Kendrick's son J. Richard - joined him to create the firm of Braun and Kendrick.
In 1951, a group of local attorneys decided that together they could build an even stronger practice. Braun and Kendrick merged with the well-established firm of William O'Keefe and James Finkbeiner. Russell Schafer, Thomas Murphy, and Hugo Braun Jr. later joined the firm, which became Braun, Kendrick, Finkbeiner, Schafer & Murphy.
In 1983, the former members of Isackson, Neering & Quinn joined Braun, Kendrick, Finkbeiner, Schafer & Murphy.
The firm's client service area was enlarged October, 1996, when the firm opened a branch office in Mt.Pleasant, Michigan.
The year 1998 brought about yet another significant addition to the firm with the merger of the former Saginaw law firm of Joseph, Wolf, Endean, and Stahle.
Most recently, the firm has opened an office in Midland, Michigan and established an of counsel relationship with Mr. John Riecker, who has maintained a practice in that community for several decades. These mergers and affiliations resulted in a firm with an even larger range of specialties, enhancing our ability to serve the legal needs of our clients. In 2002 the firm moved into a new building at our Saginaw location (pictured above).
Although our size, technology, and client base far exceed the expectations of our founders, we have maintained an environment that emphasizes the values and the highest ethics that have always been the benchmarks of the firm.
THE PRACTICE TODAY
Braun Kendrick Finkbeiner provides the knowledge and expertise required by the vast field of today's practice of law.
The number of attorneys in the firm more than doubled during the 1980s, and the firm continues its healthy, steady growth. This allows us to offer specialization in many areas. No matter how simple or complex the case or legal need, the breadth and depth within the firm allows us to achieve results quickly, expertly, and cost-effectively.
Our consistent delivery of quality legal services on a timely basis is primarily responsible for our growth. Although many of our clients are within the Saginaw, Bay City, Mt. Pleasant and Midland area, we also serve numerous businesses and individuals all across Michigan. In fact, we are among the largest firms in the state - and the largest firm based north of Detroit and east of Grand Rapids.
Our offices in Saginaw, Mt. Pleasant, and Midland offer a real benefit for northern and mid-Michigan clients. They receive high-quality legal services without paying the additional travel time to their attorneys - or the higher hourly rates so many metropolitan firms charge.
Many of our lawyers were born in Michigan - often in the mid-Michigan area. But whether we were raised locally or out of state, we are drawn to this region for many of the same reasons as our clients. The area offers the best of both worlds - big-city amenities and small-town appeal and friendships.
THE PEOPLE OF THE FIRM
The firm values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer. Our attorneys come from the finest law schools in the country. They came to Braun Kendrick Finkbeiner where they can practice with the same level of sophistication offered by major metropolitan law firms, while keeping the mid-Michigan balance of community, family, collegiality, and ethics necessary for a successful and enjoyable practice.
Our lawyers are only part of the reason for the firm's success. Our many paralegals and support staff are critical to client service. They are excellent technicians, each trained specifically for their area of practice. Effective use of these skilled people lowers our clients' costs while maintaining superior service.
